It can be that people search to feel important due to the skills they acquired through the years, through education or professional experience. It is hard to digest that sometimes the simple understanding of human communication, might be more important than all the hard-earned abilities.

Here are 6 human skills that will make you a better person.

  1. If you are not prepared to walk away from the table, you can not negotiate.

When you enter a fight, you are prepared to lose. You expect to lose, you do not double think or blink an eye. Similarly, when you enter a negotiation, you are prepared to walk away. Never bluff.

  1. If you are not respected, then leave

You are disrespected on the little things first. The others test their luck, test their boundaries with you. Never accept the little things, never accept a “top handed Shake”, set things straight from the beginning, set your boundaries and red lines.

  1. Control your emotions and don’t be compulsive

Do not react, listen and then answer, or do not answer at all. Not everything needs your reaction.

  1. The one that talks less controls the conversation

  1. Recognize the patterns of communication

Communication due to social factors, civil courtesy, cultural reasons follows certain patterns. If those patterns serve your goals stay silent and follow them, if not brake them, anyway they drive you to the not desired outcome if left untouched.

  1. Understand the factors that influence the perception of your speaking partner.
